Membership

Membership of Snowsport Cymru Wales is open to all. If you want to participate in instructor and coach training courses and programmes, get involved with competitive skiing of snowboarding events, train as a snowsport leader and organiser or become part of our growing team of officials & volunteers, you should join using the join us link below. 

With over 40,000 skiers and snowboarders going to the snow and using artificial slopes in Wales, Snowsport Cymru Wales would love to keep in touch with the recreational skiers and snowboarders and we encourage as man new members as possible to sign up for our recreational membership. 

Achieving continual growth in our membership in all areas will help a long way towards developing the sport through the next decade.

Members wishing to compete AND be licenced to instruct or coach must select and check out BOTH membership types.  Purchases of more than one membership type per member in any given year membership year will be capped at the highest membership fee.

CLUB AFFILIATION

All coaches, instructors, Club Welfare Officers and officials (aged 16 or above) working with children or vulnerable adults in regulated activity (i.e 3 or more times a month) must have a DBS enhanced check with barred list(s).  For more information on which check applies to you, please follow this link www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service/about

Snowsport Cymru Wales is able to process standard, enhanced and enhanced with barred list(s) DBS checks for its members and in the case of volunteers there is NO CHARGE for this service.

For members in paid roles*, the following charges apply for new checks and are payable in advance:

The DBS also offer an Update Service subscription and this allows applicants to keep their DBS certificates up to date and allows employers to check an applicant’s certificate.  You have 30 days from the date your certificate is issued to register for this service.  There is no charge for members in volunteer roles for this, however the DBS directly charge individuals in paid roles an annual fee, currently £13.

SSW is also able to process DBS checks for non SSW members in snowsport roles*.  The costs for these are set out below, please contact the SSW Office to discuss your requirements in the first instance.

Snowsport Cymru Wales uses the Welsh Sports Association (WSA) DBS Checking Service for Sport & Leisure.  The service is run through the WSA’s trading arm Vibrant Nation, and provides bilingual, online DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring Service, formally CRB).  The WSA is the only provider of a fully bilingual system and serve in Wales, and offer a free DBS lingual helpline.
