Schools Snowsports
With a number of artificial slopes throughout Wales there’s plenty of opportunities for school children to get involved in snowsports and develop their skills to very high levels.
Each centre in Wales will have sessions available for schools to book group learn to ski or snowboard sessions, alternatively children can book individual sessions.
For competent skiers and snowboarders there are a number of pathway opportunities to develop their skills to high levels through either the Instructor and Coach Training programmes (accessible from age 14 and older) or through our clubs and competition programmes.
Select Schools Skiing Partnership
Recent surveys in Wales carried out by Welsh Government and Sport Wales have identified a huge demand for snowsport participation in Wales with headline figures showing that 17% of school children participating in snowsports and another 12% who would like to participate.
These are great statistics that we would like to capitalise upon and help more children to access the sport.

Robin Kellen, Chief Executive Snowsport Cymru Wales said, “We are really excited to establish this partnership with Select Schools Skiing. Our events activity has grown year on year recently and linked to some fantastic statistics provided by Sport Wales & Welsh Government demonstrating significant latent demand for snowsports amongst school children in Wales, this partnership can help pull even more young enthusiasts into the sport.”
Martyn Bowden, Managing Director of Select Schools Skiing said, “Select School Skiing is pleased to announce our association with Snowsports Cymru Wales from February 2020.
The partnership’s objective is to develop and support the next generation of skiers, giving them their first opportunity to try this great sport. My father, John Bowden, the late founder of Select, was also born in Wales. His career spanned over 50 years in school skiing, striving to create a platform where children could share such experiences. The select family will continue to honour his legacy in working with Robin and his team to develop new initiatives.”
